Date Problem Solution
Standard Horizon FF41

Standard Horizon FF41 (Navman F41)

In Service: 15-JUL-2001
July 29, 2005 Erratic performance is reduced, but still present. We finally decided to relocate the sensor in the preferred position, which is in a vertical orientation, above the tank. Our new motor allowed the wiring mess in the starboard transom to be cleaned out, which in turn allowed us to cut a rectangular hatch and relocate the transducer, as descibed in the vessel log.

This seems to finally have fixed the problem, as fuel flow and total fuel used errors were less than 1% on our last trip.
Aug. 19, 2004 Still erratic performance. This time, sent the display head in for replacement. The new head indicates that there is a new version of the software, which allows tweaking the averaging window. Increased it to 20 seconds. This seemed to do it!
Sept. 24, 2005 Started out OK, then got worse. Found the plastic hose clips provided had broken. Replaced plastic clips with stainless clamps.
Oct. 14, 2001 Erratic performance. After calibration, the gauge seemed to work sometimes, othertime errors were as large as 30%. Checked fuel line for leaks, possible bad bulb. Also, display fluctuates wildly - like +/- 2 GPH while running. Looks like averaging window is too small, or no averaging window Replaced by Standard Horizon under warranty.
