This is a log of repairs and performance issues with our washdown pump

This pump is a replacement for the Blaster Pro originally installed. The original pump was damaged due to an unfortunate combination of events:

  • The Blaster Pro is not a waterproof pump.
  • However, the pump was connected to the Hosecoil washdown system by the dealer with the wrong type of hose (corrugated plastic hose, not pressure rated).
  • The hose could not take the 45 psi output pressure, and developed pinhole leaks.
  • The bilge flooded from the leaks when the bilge pump malfunctioned (see above scorecard entry). The pump did not survive.
 Replaced the corrugated pipe with nylon-reinforced PVC tubing, and the burned / rusted out pump with a Shurflo Blaster (could not find the Blaster Pro model at the time). No problems since.
