Forms and Checklists

Part of being safe is being organized. But if you've never made a float plan or used a checklist, creating one from scratch can be a royal pain in the rear.

Here are some things used in Toy Boat 2. They were prepared in Microsoft Word, and formated to fit a small Day Planner (5.5"W x 8.5"H pages). Please feel free to download and modify, and let me know if you've got something else of note to add!

Generic Float Plan (Microsoft Word) or (Adobe Acrobat)
Use this to document your trip plans, and leave it with a responsible party. Contains information that will be important to Search & Rescue operations.

Pre-trip checklist (Microsoft Word) or (Adobe Acrobat)
Going offshore is serious business. Use a checklist to make sure you cover all the bases when prepping your boat. This is the checklist used for Toy Boat 2, you will need to tailor it for your boat.

Trip-day checklist (Microsoft Word) or (Adobe Acrobat)
Even two cups of coffee may not be enough to keep you alert at 3:00am. Use a checklist to make sure you don't forget something important on the day of your trip (like leaving without your life jackets). This is the checklist used for Toy Boat 2, you will need to tailor it for your boat.
Vessel log (Microsoft Word) or (Adobe Acrobat)
Use this form to keep a record of your trip. Jot down water and weather conditions, maintenance notes, etc. This is the checklist used for Toy Boat 2, you may want to tailor it for your boat.
California Fish & Game Import form
You are required by law to complete this form and send it to the DFG (or surrender it to a DFG officer) when bringing in fish or game from outside California.
