SLAGIATT (Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time)

Are there any things he doesn't like about the boat, or would do differently, now that he has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight? Captain Bowman thought for a second and said: "There are just two things. The first is the front anchor locker - it doesn't really accomodate the type of anchor I would like to use. The second thing is that the windshield is exactly the wrong height for me. When I'm standing up steering the boat, the top edge of the windshield runs right across my line of sight. I either need some sort of step or platform that I can stand on, or the windshield needs to be lower."

All-in-all, that's not too bad of a list!

Parting Words of Wisdom

We asked Catain Bowman if he had a tip for our readers, and without hesitation, he said: "Make sure they have the right size gaff. People in smaller boats often wind up with too long a gaff, which is difficult to handle in close quarters. I've found 3 - 4 feet is about right for my boat. Any longer and the extra handle length is constantly bumping into things when you try to gaff an active fish"

And What About Cindy Garrison???

Well...sorry to disappoint, but Captain Bowman only wound up meeting Cindy Garrison once, for a season-ending recap episode. If you are familiar with In Search of Fly Waters' format, you can see how this could happen - each host shot stories at different times and in different locations, so they never had to actually meet...
